Havelock North
(population 9000)This lovely town is popular amongst tourists. It is blessed with some beautiful gardens in which it is very nice to relax. The town is built at the foot of Te Mata Peak (399 meter), which is characterizing Havelock North’s beautiful scenery. A visit to the top of this mountain is a must (when it is bright).

Tramping
Te Mata Peak is part of a bigger Trust Park; Te Mata Trust Park. In this park you have the opportunity to choose from different nice walks. For more information concerning this please visit a DOC or tourist information center in the area.
Scenic driving route
You can drive all the way up to Te Mata Peak. The drive up to it is nice and the view from there is magnificent on a clear day.
