Motuhora or Whale Island
This is a volcanic island which lies 9 kilometer off shore. Due to its whale like shape the name of the island is: Whale Island. This island is less active than Whakaari (White Island), but still is worth a visit. Motuhora has some hot springs along its shore. The highest peak of the island is 353 meter. This island is protected (to protect the birds) and can only be accessed by attending a tour.
