Tauranga
(population 60.000)Tauranga is one of the largest ports in New Zealand. Besides that it is one of the fastest growing cities in New Zealand. Tourists adore the beautiful Beaches along Tauranga’s coast. Furthermore they like the scenery of Mount Maunganui very much. Backpackers tend to visit this town because of the agricultural work opportunities; Kiwi picking in particular.

Beaches
This town is in particular known for its nice Beaches. This area has the most sun hours in New Zealand; it is an excellent place to sunbath.

Parasailing can be done at the coast of Tauranga. Another adrenaline sport is skydiving.
Marine mammal watching
In summer you can undertake a very special activity: swimming with dolphins.

This area is a good diving place.

The beautiful Beaches and the more rugged parts of the coastline make this area a nice place to set sail.
Surfing
This area makes a nice Surfing spot, although it is not famous for it in particular.
White water rafting
There are quite a few options concerning white water rafting. The thrill seeking persons and also the more save playing people will find their perfect raft trip over here.

Brain-Watkins House
This is one of the best kept colonial homes built in Victorian style.
Compass Community Village
This is a small village (without people living in it) built like they used to be built in older times.
Elms Mission Station House
This house, founded in 1835 is one of the oldest buildings in this region and is furnished according to the early 19th century style.
