Whakaari or White Island

This privately owned island lies some 50 km from shore. You will see the most active volcano of New Zealand if you visit this island. Constantly smoke is coming out of the crater, this does not mean it can erupt any time though. The highest point on this island is more than 300 meter. Because Whakaari is privately owned, you can only visit this amazing island by attending a tour.

Outdoor

Aerial sight seeing

You can also enjoy this island from the air.

Marine mammal watching

Some tours include some time for a bit of dolphin- and if you are lucky whale watching.

Scuba diving and snorkeling

It is possible to book a tour to Whakaari which has a Scuba Diving and snorkeling character.

Tramping

With most of the tours you will spend around 2 hours on the island. During this period you will probably make a nice and tramp; this will be unforgettable.
