Whangamata
(population 4000)This town has a 4 kilometer long surf beach. Every year, especially during summer time, this place attracts many surfers. Also non surfers tend to like this place a lot. Like many other places on the Coromandel Peninsula: Whangamata is excellent for aquatic activities, like swimming, kayaking and snorkeling.

There are some beautiful trails to be biked.
Surfing
Like mentioned above as well; this is an excellent Surfing place.
Tramping
