Wairarapa Coast

This is one of the remotest and scenic coast lines of the northern island. It is rugged and has beautiful scenery including the impressive Aorangi Range. This coastline even offers some splendid views on the southern island.

Outoor

Beaches

At Castlepoint you can have a nice swim; the currents are not too bad in this area.

Caving

About a long hour walk from Castle Rock you will find a huge cave. Please be very careful when entering this cave. Do not forget a torch.

Marine mammal watching

At Cape Palliser the biggest breeding colony of seals on the northern island of New Zealand can be found.

Tramping

At Putangirua Pinnacles you will have some excellent tramping opportunities. Many nice views will be present here as well. The walk up to Cape Palliser Lighthouse is a nice one as well. At Castlepoint you will be able to find some beautiful tramping tracks as well.
