Hanmer Springs Area
This area consists of hot water springs which feed several pools in this small nature reserve. These mineral pools have been in use for over a century. Especially in winter time these pools are popular. Besides the relaxing hot pools Hanmer Springs Area offers Outdoor activities in the forests and mountains it is blessed with. The main city in the area is Hanmer Springs, which counts 800 citizens.

There are some companies offering helicopter flights above Hanmer Springs Area. You will be able to see the in winter snow topped mountains and year around the beautiful forests Hanmer Springs Area has.

A few kilometers southwest of Hanmer Springs is a Bungy Jump location. So for thrill seekers after having soaked in a hot pool: make a jump.

Scenic driving routes
At Molesworth Station, north of Hanmer Springs, the largest farm of the country is situated. It is recommendable to make a wonderful drive through this area. In the beginning of the year you can drive around without guidance. In the end of the summer you will only be allowed on this super large farm by attending a tour.
Skiing and snowboarding
At Amuri and at Mount Lyford you are, during winter times, in the opportunity to ski on the ski slopes.
Thermal pools
You can enjoy hot pools filled with mineral water at Hanmer Springs Thermal Reserve. This is the largest thermal reserve on the southern island.
Tramping
Hanmer Forest and Hanmer Forest Park are nice places to make a tramp. The visitor center of Hanmer Springs and other centers or DOC's around this area will be able to provide information about walking in Hanmer Springs Area.
