Beaches
There are many nice Beaches in Marlborough & Nelson, with in particular Nelson area. Some examples: Ligar Bay Beach (Golden Bay) and Farewell Split (most northwestern part of this area on the South Island).
Bird Watching
At Farewell Split you will wander yourself in an international known bird sanctuary.
Hot springs
Te Waikoropupu Springs are said to be the clearest hot spring in the world. The spring is situated closely to Takaka (Nelson region).
Scenic driving routes
There is a small winding road following the same direction as the Queen Charlotte Tramping Track. This road is of course not as beautiful as the tramping track, but if you are not going to do the tramp this is a nice substitute to be able to see the beautiful sound. This road starts at the road between Havelock and Picton.

Cultural activities
Nelson Bone Carving
In a place near Nelson, Tahunanui, you can attend workshops in which you can carve bones. You will go home with your own, with guidance made, creation.
Cultural buildings or places
Ray Valley Cottage
This is a from totare slabs handmade colonial cottage. It is situated between Nelson and Havelock. From the 1880’s till 1909 this was home for Charles en Tilly Turner, together with their 4 children. You can view the house through glass panels.
Festivals
BMW Wine Marlborough Festival
Marlborough has an annual (held in February) wine (and food) festival: BMW Wine Marlborough Festival. Please look for more information on the following website: http://www.bmw-winemarlborough-festival.co.nz. This festival is a real treat for food and wine adorers.
Classic Fighters’ Marlborough Air Show
A total different but also exciting festival is the Classic Fighters’ Marlborough Air Show. This is held every Easter. For more information please look at: http://www.classicfighters.co.nz/.
Hunter Garden Marlborough
Hunter Garden Marlborough is an annual festival held in November. This festival is a good opportunity to visit many varied gardens in Marlborough region. Museums
Pigeon Valley Steam Museum
This is a peaceful park 2km from Wakefield. It shows some old steam trains. The trains go “live” every 1st Sunday each month and every Sunday in January.
Vineyards
Nelson Wine Trail
Nelson area counts around the 20 wineries. The nicest way to visit some is to follow the Nelson Wine Trail.
