Havelock

Havelock is the perfect base when you would like to explore the more remote parts of Marlborough Sounds. Examples of remote sounds are the Pelorus Sound and Kenepuru Sound. The area around Havelock is famous for its former timber- and goldmine industry. The town Havelock is nowadays famous for its green shelled mussel industry. It is said to be the green shelled mussel capital of the world. The town has a small port.

Havelock Museum

This museum shows machinery and equipment used by the Brownlee milling company. Memorabilia of early settlers is also depicted in Havelock Museum.
