Aerial Sight Seeing
To see New Zealand from the air is an incredibly nice experience. It will provide you a different view on what you would have seen or have seen from the land. It is also possible to see things which are impossible to observe from land.
Great areas to watch from a plain or helicopter are: Bay of Islands (Northland & Auckland), Tongariro National Park (Waikato & Tongariro), Mt Cook (Canterbury), glaciers on the southern island, Kaikoura (Canterbury) and the southwestern fiords.
Most of the aerial sight seeing areas are about to see the prettiness of the land, except for Kaikoura. Of course you will have some amazing views from here on the land, but the most beautiful part will be to see the wildlife: sperm whales and dusky dolphins. (Please also look at category “Things to Do” section “Outdoor” heading “Marine Mammal Watching”)
Another option is to undertake a hot air balloon flight. This is a more romantic sight seeing version. Paragliding and jumping out of the plain is an option as well. You will find enough opportunities around the country to fly in a hot air balloon, to undertake a paraglide or to jump out of a plain.
The nice and clear skies and the stunning views make New Zealand a great place to undertake the above written activities.
