Bird Watching
Due to New Zealand’s isolation and that New Zealand has no natural mammals the country has many interesting birds, which you won’t be able to spot in other parts of the world.
Most of the bird watchers try to find a Kiwi in wildlife, although they are difficult to find. Furthermore the royal albatross, white heron, crested penguin and the yellow-eyed penguin are popular birds to look for.
Some of the popular birds spotting places are: Stewart Island (Otago & Southland), fiords (Otago & Southland), and the area above Auckland (Northland & Auckland).
