Scenic (Driving) Routes

New Zealand is blessed with a beautiful and surprisingly varying landscape. When being a short time in New Zealand only, you will never have the opportunity to experience all regions with the same intensity. Luckily you will be able to “taste” a lot of regions by driving through it; New Zealand has some very nice scenic drives. Actually “normal” roads tend to be very beautiful as well, so imagine the scenic drives: they are exceptional nice to follow. For information about "normal" routes please use this link: http://www.newzealand.com.

The Southern Scenic Route is a famous scenic route in New Zealand. This route runs trough Otago & Southland. If being there following this route is highly recommendable. Hereby we provide a link to a webiste containing information about this route: http://www.atoz-nz.com.

Another option is to take the train. In contradiction to many other countries the train in New Zealand isn’t in the first place used for going from one place to the other. It is about making the trip itself; enjoying the scenery. Please look for more information concerning this in the category “Things to Know”, section “Getting There and Around”, heading “Getting Around by Train”.
