Year round you will be able to find great surf spots for beginning and experienced surfers. Especially when going off the “normal” roads you will find excellent waves without crowds of people surfing on it.

Surfing has become increasingly popular in recent years. As result you will nowadays quite easily find surf schools on the popular surf Beaches.

Water temperatures during winter and summer and on the northern and southern island vary quite a bit. So for your own Safety check the place you are heading off to, for the kind of wetsuit and extra’s you will need.

Examples of spots with excellent waves to surf on are: Coromandel Peninsula (Waikato & Tongariro), Bay of Plenty (Northland & Auckland) and Dunedin (Otago & Southland).
