Getting There and Away

Many airlines fly on New Zealand. It does not matter whether you come from North America, Asia or Europe. Due to New Zealand’s isolation the prices are high; the flight distance is long. Flights from Australia are offered against good prices all year round.

If you fly in from Australia some good airlines are Air New Zealand, Qantas, Freedom Air and Virgin Blue. Most flights from North America depart from the west coast. Tickets from Canada tend to be 10% higher in cost than those sold in North America. London is a relative cheap place to head off to New Zealand. You can fly either via America or via Asia, in both countries you can make a stop over, depending on the carrier you use. When departing from continental Europe Frankfurt is a major hub. From Asia in particular Hong Kong cheap flights can sometimes be found from varying airlines.

Amongst others the following intercontinental airlines fly on New Zealand: Qantas KLM British Airways United Airlines Thai Airways International Japan Airlines Air New Zealand Air Canada.

New Zealand has seven international airports: Auckland, Wellington, Palmerston North, Hamilton, Christchurch, Queenstown and Dunedin. Departing from one of those airports to an international destination will cost you a 20NZ$ departure tax.
