On the Road

First of all, Kiwi’s drive on the left hand side of the road. Secondly: speed limits are provided in kilometers. Please besides for your own Safety, respect those limits otherwise you will risk fines; there are many speed cameras and radars on the roads. If your car has seatbelts you have to use them by law.

All types of fuel can be obtained from service stations with international brands. Try not to tank at small fuel stations at remote places. Reason: this will cost you a lot compared to the bigger service stations in larger towns, cities.

If you do not have an in English written driver’s license, make sure you get a translation. For example purchase an International Driving Permit.

When being a member of a foreign automobile association please bring your membership card. This will probably give you access to the services of New Zealand’s Automobile Association. This association has agreements with many foreign associations.
